Akane

Akane is a black tea cultivar developed in Kagoshima. The liquor color is bright red with golden ring appearance, reminiscent of sunset red color which inspired its name. Has high Chinese-style fresh fragrance, strong astringency, and refreshing aftertaste. Strong tree vigor with excellent cold and disease resistance and high yield. Suitable for warm regions of Kyushu, Shikoku, and Tokai-Kinki, but requires careful water management due to late root development.
