あさぎり
Asagiri is a variety selected from native seedling tea gardens in Uji, Kyoto, specifically for gyokuro and matcha production. It buds about 3 days earlier than Yabukita, and under shade cultivation, develops thin and soft leaves with excellent color and flavor. Cutting propagation is somewhat poor, requiring careful nursery management. It is vulnerable to summer drought and has poor initial growth, making cultivation in fertile soil with careful management essential. It is suitable for shade cultivation areas such as Kyoto Prefecture.
