Description

Asatsuyu is a sencha variety with such excellent quality that it's called 'natural gyokuro'. It has extremely good product color and taste, and is highly valued as premium tea. Though it has the same harvesting period as Yabukita, it's susceptible to frost damage due to early sprouting. While it has good cutting root formation, it has poor initial growth and requires years to establish mature gardens. Cold resistance is moderate but weak among green tea varieties, suitable for warm regions in Tokai and Kinki areas. A quality-focused variety.
