Benifuji is a variety developed in 1960 at the Tea Division of the Ministry of Agriculture Tokai-Kinki Agricultural Experiment Station, created from crossing Benihomare and C19. Characterized by good cutting and young tree growth, especially high yield in young tree stage. Excellent cold resistance makes it suitable for cultivation in the northern limit regions of Japanese black tea production. Excellent black tea quality, particularly good young shoot quality. These characteristics make it notable as a variety suitable for black tea production in cold regions.
