Benifuki is a medium-late season tea variety certified in 1993. The sprouting and harvesting periods are 1-2 days later than Yabukita, with a spreading tree form that branches well and has good bush spread. It has good cutting root formation, vigorous growth after planting, and strong tree vigor. It is a high-yielding variety with high resistance to anthracnose and ring spot disease. The black tea quality is extremely good with clear fragrance, deep red liquor color, and rich flavor. As oolong tea, it has high aroma similar to Tieguanyin with unique umami. It has somewhat strong bitterness. Suitable for cultivation in warm and temperate regions from Kyushu to Tokai.
