Description

Hatsumidori is a very early variety for sencha production, selected from seedling populations from Mie Prefecture in Kagoshima Prefecture. It has upright tree form with strong vigor and good cold resistance, but as a very early variety, cultivation is necessary in areas without frost risk. Leaves are short, circular, large, and dark green with high yield. The sencha quality has a slightly yellowish tinge at shoot tips but excellent aroma and flavor. It is suitable for warm regions of Kyushu and Shikoku.
