Description

Himemidori is a variety selected from Japanese native varieties originating in the Yame district of Fukuoka Prefecture for gyokuro production. Fresh leaf yield under spring shade cultivation is approximately 300kg per 10a, and the tea processing quality is very refined and sophisticated. It is a robust variety that rarely suffers from pests or cold damage. Cutting propagation is not very good, but rooting becomes easier when softening methods are applied. It is a valuable variety suitable for high-quality gyokuro production utilizing native Japanese variety characteristics, positioned as an important variety supporting the traditional tea culture of the Yame district. It has the characteristic covered aroma and refined sweetness unique to gyokuro.
