Kanaemaru, a medium-season variety, has budding 1 day later and harvesting 1 day earlier than Yabukita. Due to good canopy spread and many new buds, both first and second flush teas yield more than Yabukita. Crude tea quality is excellent, especially in appearance. It has low occurrence of ring spot disease, blister blight, and anthracnose, with extremely low occurrence of white peach scale. Cold resistance is equivalent to or slightly stronger than Sayamakaori. It is a high-quality, high-yielding variety that can be cultivated in major tea production areas where Yabukita can be grown.
