きょうみどり
Kyomidori is an early variety selected from approximately 100-year-old seedling tea gardens in Uji, Kyoto, for gyokuro and matcha production. It buds 7-8 days earlier than Yabukita and has vigorous growth with excellent cold and heat resistance. Under shade cultivation, leaves develop a deep green color with rich luster, showing excellent aroma and flavor quality. Due to its strong upright growth habit, branch spread is small and initial yield is somewhat poor, but yield stabilizes as the tree matures. Cutting propagation is good but above-ground growth is slow. It is suitable for shade cultivation areas such as Kyoto Prefecture.
