Description

Natsumidori is a sencha variety selected from Shizuoka variety seedling tea gardens at the Ministry of Agriculture Tea Research Station. The greatest characteristic is that summer tea leaves maintain green color and quality decline in second and third flush is less than other varieties. Tree form is upright with somewhat strong tree vigor, and has high yield due to bud-number type. Disease resistance is strong but cold resistance is moderate. Suitable for warm regions west of Shizuoka Prefecture, but care is needed for frost damage due to early sprouting. Fertilization management is important as initial growth is somewhat inferior.
