ろくろう
Rokuro is a variety selected by Sugiyama Hikosaburo in 1913 in Shizuoka Prefecture. It has rich taste and good aroma with good quality as sencha. A medium-season variety but sprouting and harvesting periods are 1-7 days earlier than Yabukita. Strong cold resistance and resistant to net blotch disease. Suitable for regions with little frost damage west of Shizuoka Prefecture, requiring selection of deep soil locations. Care is needed as insufficient fertilization management causes increased seed formation and poor shoot elongation.
