さいのみどり
Sainomidori is an early-season tea variety certified in 2003, developed by natural crossing of Sayamakaori. First tea harvest is about 2 days earlier than Yabukita, classified as early-season in cool tea-producing regions. Cold resistance is equivalent to Yabukita with resistance to red withering, blue withering, and wound-type freeze damage. Anthracnose resistance is somewhat strong, and resistance to mulberry white scale is also somewhat strong. Yield is somewhat higher than Yabukita for both first and second tea. The product has fine and twisted shape but color tone tends to be somewhat blackish, with internal quality equivalent to Yabukita. Suitable for cultivation in cool tea-producing regions such as Kanto and mountain tea-producing regions.
