
さつまべに
Satsumabeni is a black tea cultivar developed in Kagoshima Prefecture through artificial crossing. Harvested 2-3 days later than Hatsumomiji, with intermediate tree form and strong vigor, cold resistance equivalent to Benikaori. Leaves are light green and large, with easy cutting propagation and strong regenerative capacity. Suitable for black tea processing with consistently uniform quality. Has elegant Assam-type fragrance and pleasant fragrance and flavor appealing to everyone, winning first place in the 1958 Domestic Superior Black Tea Mass Evaluation. Suitable for warm regions of Kyushu and Shikoku, but thorough fertilizer management is important.
