さやまみどり
Sayamamidori is a green tea variety selected from seedlings in Saitama Prefecture. It has good flavor and aroma, with a distinctive fragrance obtained when withering is performed before tea processing. It has particularly excellent cold resistance and shows extremely strong resistance to ring spot disease. It is a mid-season variety about 4 days later than Yabukita with excellent yield. However, it has weaknesses of poor early growth, low transplant survival rate, and susceptibility to red withering. Nursery management and care for 1-3 years after planting are important, and picking must be done early to avoid hardening.
